Photography Tips: Clothing tips
Here I am with another photography tip, today's topic is about clothing. Me personally I like solid colors when I am shooting. Try to avoid large prints and patterns, keep is simple - unless you are in the fashion industry of course. Sometimes the less is more.
Long sleeve shirts / dresses are recommended because they draw attention away from arms. Try to avoid short pants gentlemen. If there is more then one person on the picture do not mix casual and formal attire.
About shoes and socks. Do not mix white socks with dark shoes because it will draw the eye to lightest area in the picture.
Lighter clothes tend to emphasize body size while dark clothing tends to slenderize and helps to blend the bodies with the background.
Clothing below the waistline should be darker than above. Even if light jeans worn below a darker top could easily attract attention to the lower part of the body and away from the face.
About the neckline. A wide-open neckline tends to thicken the neck in the image; a turtleneck or a v-neck is the most flattering.
